    Depth of sand bed

I was wondering if it would be bad to have a very thin sandbed (1/2 inch) in a 25 gallon cube. Is there a big benefit to having a deeper sandbed (1+ inch)?

depends a deep sand bed can help reduce nitrates bc of the low level of O2 at the bottom of the bed some people keep bare bottom bc its easier to clean some me included like the look of sand. and some fish like wrasses like having the sand as a hiding place and some sift it to eat
