thoughts on in tank refugium for macro?

The sump of the Red Sea Max nano is tiny...no room for anything including attaching a HOB refugium. I'm considering a tiny in tank refugium to store macro like chaeto. Thoughts? yay or nay considering both functionality and aesthetic.

    something like this

I think it would be more a nuisance and eyesore than anything.

You're better off setting up a "reactor" fuge, like throwing chaeto in a canister and put a light on it and let it feed back into the sump IMO.

    Another thought:

Maybe build in a supported shelf, throw a 5g tank on it, add a small pump to feed it, then have a drain near the top to let the water fall back into the sump.

His wife would kill him if he put up another tank. The AIO option keeps him out of trouble. I wouldn't worry about macros unless you like the look of them in the DT. I would just control feeding and use the best water possible to keep algae off the rocks.

yea I think I'll scrap the macro idea for now. and yes my wife would start giving me stink eyes if I added another tank to this. If anything I may try to gut out the rear "sump" area and shove in siporax.
